The Society of Critical Care Medicine's Critical Care Congress features internationally renowned faculty and content sessions highlighting the most up-to-date, evidence-based developments in critical care medicine. This is a presentation from the 2021 Critical Care Congress held virtually from January 31-February 12, 2021.
Learning Objectives
- Describe traditional attitudes and current and future approaches that naturally consider the balance between academic advancement and/or career progression and outside life
- Recognize disruptive mechanisms to challenge the status quo of current leadership positions within societies, journals, and editorial boards
- Address the potentially contentious and sensitive theme of equity in the workplace and opportunities to address it and provide academic fulfillment, particularly to junior faculty
- Discuss how to influence those who are comfortable with the status quo and how to make a positive impact while identifying and developing future leaders in our profession independent of gender and other factors
- Define new ideas as to how we approach such bodies and work from the grassroots level to incorporate equity and inclusivity in the research environment
