Target Audience

This continuing education activity is intended to meet the needs of pediatricians, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, emergency physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, neonatologists, hospitalists and all other providers who care for pediatric patients in any setting in which critical care is provided.

Learning Objectives
  • Demonstrate a foundation of pediatric and neonatal ultrasound knowledge
  • Practice acquisitions of high-quality images via hands-on exercises
  • Demonstrate image interpretation and utilization of pediatric and neonatal ultrasound as a diagnostic tool
Competencies

Type of Activity

This self-directed activity with live skills training will focus on applying knowledge and techniques of ultrasound in the pediatric intensive care unit.  

Credit Hours

Successful completion of this continuing medical education (CME) activity, which includes participation and a passing score of 70% (three attempts) on the posttest and completion of the overall evaluation, enables the participant to earn up to 17.5 credits hours.

Option 1: Online Presentations Only

Physicians – Accreditation Statement: The Society of Critical Care Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation Statement: The Society of Critical Care Medicine designates the enduring educational activity, Critical Care Ultrasound: Pediatric and Neonatal, for a maximum of 9.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™.

Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Nurses – The Critical Care Ultrasound activity has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider No. 8181, for up to 9.5 contact hours.

Physician Assistants – AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 9.5 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

Option 2: Online Presentations and Skills Training
Important Note: Do NOT complete the overall evaluation until you have viewed all the online presentations and attended a live skills training.

American Board of Pediatrics: This course meets the requirements for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part II. To claim MOC Part II credit, you must pass the posttest, select the option for pediatric MOC II, and enter your American Board of Pediatrics member number and your date of birth. Your score will be reported directly to the Board.

This course meets the requirements for maintenance of certification (MOC) for up to 9.5 credits.

Option 2: Online Presentations and Skills Training
American Board of Pediatrics: This course meets the requirements for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part II. To claim MOC Part II credit, you must pass the posttest, select the option for pediatric MOC II, and enter your American Board of Pediatrics member number and your date of birth. Your score will be reported directly to the Board.
