Target Audience
This activity is intended to meet the needs of physicians, nurses and all other medical professionals who care for critically ill patients, especially those involved in neurocritical care.

Competencies

The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) supports recommendations that will promote lifelong learning through continuing education. SCCM promotes activities that encourage the highest quality in education that will enhance knowledge, competence, or performance in critical care practice. Learning Objectives

On completion of this activity, participant will be able to:

  • Apply the current concepts in clinical evaluation of neurocritical care diseases managed in a typical neurocritical care practice
  • Describe key concepts in comprehensive multisystem care of the critically ill patient with neurologic diseases and conditions
  • Apply principles of diagnostic neuroimaging for guiding evaluation and management decisions in neurocritical care
Credit Hours

Successful completion of this continuing medical education (CME) activity, which includes participation and a passing score of 70% (three attempts) on the posttest and completion of the overall evaluation, enables the participant to earn up to 15 credits hours.

The Society of Critical Care Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians, nurses and pharmacists.

 

Physicians

 

Physicians: Accreditation Statement: The Society of Critical Care Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Designation Statement: The Society of Critical Care Medicine designates this online educational activity for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Pharmacists  

The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This symposium will provide 15 continuing education hours 
(0236-0000-21-201-H01-P).  

SCCM reports to a continuing pharmacy education (CPE) tracking service, CPE Monitor, which will authenticate and store data for completed CPE units received by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, using your National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) member number and date of birth. You are responsible for providing accurate information to SCCM. CPE Monitor will authenticate and store data for completed CPE units received by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The tracking system will make CPE data for each participant available to the state boards of pharmacy where the participant is licensed or registered. After CPE units are processed by ACPE and NABP, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will be able to log in to a comprehensive electronic profile to access information about their completed CPE. 

 

Nurses

The Society of Critical Care Medicine is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider No. 8181, for 15 contact hours.

Maintenance of Certification

Successful completion of this continuing medical education (CME) activity, which includes completion of the post-assessment survey and evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15 medical knowledge maintenance of certification (MOC) points in the following boards’ MOC programs:

  • American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  • American Board of Anesthesia (ABA)
  • American Board of Surgery (ABS)

Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education for the purpose of granting MOC credit. To obtain MOC credit, complete the session credit and complete the post assessment survey at MySCCM.org.

ABA MOC Patient Safety: This activity contributes to the patient safety CME requirement for Part II: Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment of the ABA’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program® (MOCA®), known as MOCA 2.0®.
